The purpose of this blog is primarily for myself. There are plenty of blogs out there for others. Although I don't mind if my blog is followed and in fact would be honored that someone might have an interest in my petty thoughts, what I do, what I get inspired by, etc. But I just wanted to state that the purpose of this blog is for an ongoing documentation in a sense so that later in life or whenever I choose, I can look back and say, "Oh, that is what I liked then, oh, that is what I did, what I was interested in, what I created, read, watched, etc." I plan to change my header yearly. I'm thinking about what I want it to be for this upcoming year. I want whites so that they can represent for me looking to the future with bright visionary inspiring wonderful days to come...

Photographer Richard Knapp "The Red Glove" Project...

Below is a shot that Richie took of me for his ongoing project "The Red Glove". I love this shot.

"The Only Constant in Life is Change"

I've done a little research today on Francois de La Rochefouchauld ( however you pronounce that ). Some of his quotes are very thought provoking to me. I was looking for the quote...
  • The only constant in life is change.
...and stumbled upon all of these which were great as well.

Quitting Smoking

Well, I've finally decided to quit smoking. I hope this one sticks. I'm on day 5 now. I've made it through the 4 day hurdle. I can't believe it.

Image found on the blog I LOVE called "Nowness". This place is Esalen: Big Sur's Spiritual Mecca ( Which btw, I plan to check out. Looks AMAZING ) I just thought about how quitting smoking will open up so many other doors for my life experience. YAY!

Current Obsessions...

#1 on my wishlist:

1) Washed Leather Open Toe Low Boots by Strategia.

I am also obsessing over these 2 styles from Penelope & Coco:
1) Capone
2) Riina

And I might just have to buy the ankle boots above from Mea Shadow:
1) Grey Suede 'Daphne'.

And, HAVE to have:
The above leggings from OAK NYC. Can't decide which ones yet...

Additions and Subtractions

My sister in law Marie does a series of Additions to her wardrobe posts that I love to follow. I am now going to try doing that as she does but with also adding the Subtractions. I'm interested to see what I come up with. I really want to focus on Subtractions for a while. I'm so tired of some of my older pieces...

New Beginnings... Never too late.

Today I am grateful for:
  • Rediscovering what it means to be truely inspired and healthy.
  • Having done Bikram Yoga once again, and leaving with a solid sense of self & health.
  • All of the positive encouragement on my recent Facebook post regarding entering the Surface Magazine Avant Guardian Competition.
  • Being surrounded by cool people and connected to cool blogs.

Sign of the times...

In case anyone who might be following my blog is wondering why I haven't updated it in a month, my life has been extremely event filled. I have barely had a chance to check my email much less write an interesting blog entry. So, today is a marker I feel for the beginning of a new segment in my life and times with 3 children ( 2 under 2 at that ). Wow! Can I say "What a challenge!" More to come...

Bio- June 2010

i am a mother of three beautiful boys.  i started taking pictures when I was 13.  i borrowed my mother's camera and started playing dress-up with my sisters.  innocently naive, we picked up the prints from the lab, and i can't explain how elated we were to see the lovely images. and then my dad found our artsy yet "nudeshots and was laughingly perturbed at our creations. he made us throw the pictures away due to the context of the nudity versus our youth.  i couldn't put down the camera since.

my infatuation with models and the industry thereof began when i found myself on the streets of london and paris at the ripe age of 21, camera in hand, soaking in the nostalgia and culture so prominently radiating from the very scent in the air, passionately looking for people to photograph.  being so enamored by the alien-like perfect beauty i would discover constantly, my european backdrop was the perfect palette for facilitating very inspired shoots.  as i consistently created stunning images of the girls and guys that i would find and eventually help to become signed at major modeling agencies, soon i was well-respected by most of the top agencies in london.  i was described as having a very keen eye for aesthetics.  i developed a facination with discovering new and unique and beautiful faces.  i could sort of "steal" and "have" this untouchable quality i saw when i would capture the spirit of the person in my image.  i became signed as a model as well at m model management los angeles in 2005 and have been working with them since.

joie de vivre

I noticed that on one of the blogs I like to look at, Little Brown Pen, her headliner or whatever you want to call it says, "I take joie de vivre seriously." I just wanted to share that I loved it. Very good point...

Final Days...

I am in the final days of this pregnancy, literally. The baby is due in 2 weeks. I am going up North on Wednesday and Thursday to Healdsburg. My doctor said I shouldn't because I could go into labor any day now. Wow, I am debating on whether or not it's a good idea. But I really was looking forward to this vacation. Not to mention, that Condé Nast Traveler announced their distinguished 2010 Gold List winners this month for the world’s finest hotels and Hotel Healdsburg ( the hotel we are staying at ) was included in the “Best Places to Stay in North America” category. Well, knowing me and knowing that I will take chances no matter what ( Sagittarius trait ), I guess I'll be driving up on the 5th and 6th praying that I don't go into labor until the 7th or later. I'm not due until the 17th, so I think I'll be fine. Anyways, I wanted to share a couple of my final pregnancy photos... Richie shot these a few mornings ago.

Just another Manic Monday???

Today I am grateful for:
  • Starting out the day humming "just another manic monday..", but as the day progressed, staying as positive as possible, and I having one of the best days I've had in a long time.
  • Having done Bikram Yoga at noon, curing my body aches and making my spirit feel so recharged.
  • Feeling really completely in control of my life, the house, etc.
  • Having the experience in life and exposure to certain schools of thought that have helped me so dramatically with emotional roller coasters, etc. knowing that I am not manic and granting myself the ability to feel something completely through as opposed to suppressing it.
  • The complete and utter excitement of my new baby boy on his way to meet us so very soon!

Easter Morning...

It's incredible how much one yoga class can do for your body, mind, and spirit. If I do this once a week at least, I know that I will feel so much more aligned on a regular basis.

-It’s Easter morning, about 6:30am. I feel so fantastic this morning. Yesterday, Richie and I made it to yoga. I know that this changed a huge pace in our lives lately that is unimaginable. I feel so great. I need to remember to do yoga at least once a week to keep my body and mind at peace. Looking forward to a great day. xoxoxo

Gemini Moon

Today I am grateful for:
  • Knowing that when I'm having a terrible day, even when I can't quite justify it being terrible, that "This too shall pass...". ( I always refer back to that quote when it seems that I can't get out of the funk.) To learn more about my terrible day, click HERE.

Spring Cleaning

Today I am grateful for:
  • Waking up to the cool spring air once again and realizing how in love I am still with my husband.
  • Getting dressed and not having a problem picking out a really cute outfit for an 8 mth prego person due to the fact that I got rid of about 35 dresses, 15 tops, and about 10 other random things and organized my closet 2 days ago. ( That is only Phase II as well )
  • I have an awesome handle on my wardrobe now, and I can see things that I like instead of it being covered in random clothing that I picked up from doing shoot exchanges, etc. I love the feeling of being on top of an ever evolving wardrobe.

Friday morning love

Today I am grateful for:
  • The chilly early morning spring air seeping through the skylight carrying the sound of birds chirping to greet our day.
  • The warm fuzzy feeling that tingles in me this morning starting in my chest and radiating throughout my whole body as I look over at my beautiful husband's cute crooked lips still sleeping as he rolls over and snuggles me with his soft brown toned hands and arms making us into a human pretzel.
  • My sister-in-law Marie for coming over weekly on Thursdays and sparking my creative mind just by showing up with her 20 year old energy that consists of a passion for life and fashion and new things. ( I wake up with my mind racing in many directions covering all of the things I want to create and learn and experience and share after she comes over )
  • My beautiful sons, Ryder & Timothy. Ryder came in to bed with us this morning with perfect breath ( why can't I have morning breath that is so sweet?? ) He giggled and cuddled between Richie and I and brought a complete feeling of joy to us.

One Early Morning in Spring

I am starting a record of appreciations. I will post an entry as often as I feel appreciation for what I have and could have, etc.

Today I am grateful for:
  • The beautiful windows letting in the soft gray morning light in our gorgeous studio that we've managed to stay in throughout the recession.
  • My lovely family.
  • The cool air of this spring morning.
  • My baby whom I will meet very soon!
  • The aroma of fresh Pete's Coffee brewing downstairs.

Harsh Reality

I did my makeup in the harsh sunlight, and I started to see all of the flaws that I don't normally see in the bathroom mirror. I'm 32 and can totally see that I actually am finally aging. I used to think it wouldn't happen to me.

Comparison / Self-expression

I read this on someone's site, and I thought it to be partially true.

"Where comparison ends, self-expression begins."

I also feel there is a certain amount of comparison involved in order to continue
challenging yourself to really reach your full potential. I feel as though I am a
compilation of everything I have been exposed to over my life. I breathe it in,
then breathe it out.

"Nothing Gold Can Stay"

I just wanted to share this well known poem. It is so beautiful to me. It reminds
me of the cycle of life...

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Robert Frost

Richie just told me Greg invited us for wine tasting at his house. Greg is literally the person that knows good wine. I am so excited as always when he invites us over.

Timothy, Ryder, & I are going on a hike.
I guess Ryder is ready to start hiking on his own...

"To die would be a very great adventure..."

Food and Wine

Since I’ve become a wine connoisseur, I've decided to dedicate this Link to cooking and trying wines... I LOVE to cook. I always take pictures of the food, so this is a perfect way to track it for myself and others.
