Okay, so I just fell in love with Rumi of Fashion Toast. I've been hearing a lot about her, and thinking that I would look at her blog and be like "yeah, whatever", but I was pleasantly surprised. And I realized why she is the top blogger. She is super cute. She is "real". She doesn't seem to be trying, just living. And, most of all, I LOVE the writing. It's like going into someone's personal journal or diary and nostalgia covers the page. She has a way with words that just brings you right to the place in time where she is and somehow it seems like a moment in history. There is a saying I love that goes, "models define eras", and I feel that Rumi sort of defines the era we are living in now. Fashion can be misconstrued as being a shallow or vain industry ( I've had those accusations personally ), but nobody put it better than Coco herself, "Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening." So "fashion" defines eras, not models.. models happen to be the puppets so to speak representing that particular voice.
